After This…We Won’t See Him.

John Cena IS WWE. No other wrestler has elevated the business like Cena. Some may argue that Taker or Rock were bigger stars, and at certain points in their career that may have been true, but neither will have left as big a void the 17 time World Champion will when he wrestles his last match in December.

On April 20th, I was one of the millions glued to my couch about to witness the greatest of all time wrestle for the final time on the grandest stage of them all…and I felt disappointed. The G.O.A.T’s retirement tour has been an emotional roller coaster featuring a heel turn that shocked the world, a title run of marquee matchups that felt wasted, and a sudden babyface pivot to drop the title to Cody Rhodes at Summerslam. That whole title run felt like Cena was trying too hard to make this tour something we’d never seen. Summerslam felt like the first time we got to really see vintage Cena going out there and leaving every single ounce of magic he has left in the ring for the fans.

Since Summerslam John has put on a series of 5 star classics. The tag match with Cody was extremely memorable, and despite the hate Logan Paul will likely never stop getting, he’s responsible for one half of the most fun match I’ve witnessed in a long time. With only a few dates and opponents left before his last ride, I am very confident these remaining matches will be one’s for the history books.
