This is our year!!!

Being a Cowboys fan is one of the most hot takes you can have in sports, from the polarizing fanbase to the embarrassing playoff failure, I am a proud member of the most meme-able and hated fanbase in sports. Like many Dallas fans, I was born with blue and silver coursing through my veins, and for better or worse I am stuck with this team.

There are many reasons to jump ship and cheer for the likes Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson, both clear heralds of future success and Lombardis for their respective cities, but who likes a bandwagon? I embrace the longshot and the fever dream that is routing for Jerry’s team. I cling to the small victories and shrug off the constant slander spouted by the talking heads on every sports panel. Despite zero appearances in the big dance since before I was born(1998) dem boys still have the highest overall win percentage since the start of the Super Bowl era(1996) at 59.4 and that has to count for something. Call me a masochist but I would rather watch the 12-5 seasons followed by the crushing early playoff exit than witness a carnival of QBs and Coaches all to the tune of losing record after losing record.

While it may not truly be “our year” for sometime, I will die on the hill that despite the championship drought, the Cowboys do not deserve the label of a bad team. Like it or not, your favorite sports show will never stop talking about us.
